The Arizona Mushroom Society, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit Arizona corporation, and is the state affiliate of the North American Mycological Association. We engage in a variety of forays, educational meetings, dinners, and other events designed to appeal to newcomers and experienced mushroom hunters alike.
NAMA REGIONAL FORAY
In conjunction with the North American Mycological Association, the AMS will be holding a Regional Foray in the White Mountains on August 10-13. This is a chance to learn in depth from Arizona mushroom expert Dr. Scott Bates, the chief mycologist for the foray, and other national experts. Registrations will open soon.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION
As there were only three candidates for the three empty seats on the AMS Board of Directors, they were confirmed by unanimous acclamation at the December 2016 Annual Member Meeting. Congrats to new Directors Jacob Ochsankel (above) and Nathan Markham, and condolences to Chris May, who returns for a full term.
SPECIES LIST FOR 2016 FORAY
The Scientific Committee’s commitment to better document the mycological communities in Arizona includes creating a species list for each foray and assisting members with the collection of species. Thanks to the hard work of Terri Clements, Laurie Herring, and Debbie Viess, we now have a thorough record of the 150+ species we found last summer.
